Government bewilder on “Janarala”
President Rajapaksa’s younger brother also newly appointed national list MP Basil Rajapaksa has reportedly an unofficially invited to former Foreign Minister, Mangala Samaraweera to re-join in the formation of a National Government to attain similar goals. The invitation was unofficially given through an elite government senior, who is also a close associate of Mangala Samaraweera.
Reliable sources say that the SLFP (M) the rival group of the ruling SLFP convener responded saying that he would consider the offer if the President is prepared to be flexible regarding a set of 10 fundamental political proposals and if the premiership of the proposed regime is given to the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The tomorrow’s (September 30th) will publication of the “Lakbima” newspaper too, portrays a similar news item with the headlines saying “Mangala invited to re-join government”.
“Mangala Samaraweera has received a non-official invitation to strengthen the government by rejoining”, it will be says.
SLFP (M) reports say that its’ convener was also unofficially invited to discussions on the matter and added that all is ready to discuss Mr. Samaraweera’s 10 proposals to develop the country.
Internal sources of the SLFP say that the intention behind this attempt of the government is to create a National Government, assembling all parties together.
Discussions between Mangala Samaraweera and a group of SLFP seniors are expected after the President’s return from the United Nation’s convention in New York.
Meanwhile report says, the SLFP (M) wing and UNP has organized a special media briefing on the 03rd of October.
This follows the wave of confusion in the political arena after news flashes reported that the United National Party has abandoned its federal stance in order to find a solution for the ethnic crisis.
