The instigation of the recent Commission by President Mahinda Rajapakse to investigate the extra judicial killings, bomb blasts and human rights abuses in Sri Lanka was a ploy by the cunning President from the very inception. This Commission was instigated by the President to keep the westerners mouths shut and human rights groups. President Mahinda Rajapakse was weary of being labelled another “Mugabe”, which led him to launch this official enquiry.

A number of international observers have commented that there has been no significant progress which is mirrors the APRC (All Party Representative Committee) again another ploy instigated by President Rajapakse to fool the international governments.

There is ample evidence to prove that the Government of Sri Lanka have had some hand in the extra judicial killing in the East of civilians and NGO workers. The Rakapakse administration is doing all they can to cover this up courtesy of their close ally Major General Kapila Hendawitharana the Director-General of Military Intelligence (MI). It should be noted that Major General Kapila Hendawitharana fell foul of former President Chandrika who controversially sacked him from his post as Director-General of Military Intelligence (MI) whilst serving as President.

The Sri Lankan Armed Forces are no angels, they have repeatedly violated the law and are equally as guilty of committing acts of violence, killings etc against the Sri Lankan Tamil community and engaged in operations to chase the Tamil people out of their homes and villages which is in effect “Ethnic Cleansing”.

Bringing in the International Independent Group of Eminent Persons, (IIGEP),
to observe the Commissions work was such a waste of time for it was inevitable that the Commission was doomed to fail right from the start. Families of the victims have not been permitted to witness the hearings. The Rajapakse government is renowned for their lack of transparency and accountability.

Tens of thousands of people from all communities have been killed in this bloody ethnic conflict (which is the fault of the British) an estimated 100.000 plus. There are some international governments in Africa, South Asia and Europe making millions of $$$ dollars and taking advantage of the ethnic crisis in Sri Lanka instead of helping towards restoring peace and democracy.

President Mahinda Rajapakse should be impeached in parliament through a vote of “no confidence” which should be closely monitored by the United Nations, E.U. and India. It is fact that President Rajapakse bribed the LTTE supremo in order to win the election. His predecessor President Premadasa too gave money and arms to the LTTE in order to wage a war against the IPKF (Indian Peace Keeping Force).

Successive governments of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers (LTTE) have consistently used one another for their own gains and survival. Prabhakaran, Mahinda Rajapakse and previous Presidents are all traitors of their own people. The irony is that the so called international governments who have intervened in other countries like East Timor have failed to intervene and help resolve the Sri Lanka’s ethnic crisis. India tried too and got their fingers burnt…

With countries continuing to pour in aid to the Sri Lankan government, the funds are being utilized to instigate phase two of the war against the LTTE in the North and in Vanni. The LTTE have so far only restricted themselves to being defensive in order to highlight the realities of achieving peace when having to deal with the Rajapakse administration. The aim of the Sinhala chauvinists is to colonize the North and wipe out the LTTE. They do not recognize the North-East being the traditional homelands of the Sri Lankan Tamil speaking people.

The International governments including India must dispatch their peace envoys to pressurise the Sri Lankan government and President Rajapakse into creating an environment for peace efforts and go in the affected area’s and make their own independent and impartial assessment of the true situation in Sri Lanka because the Sri Lankan government lack transparency and accountability for their actions against their own people.
