At the Government Parliamentary Group meeting yesterday (September 04th), the sound pollution legislation introduced by the Ministry of Environment came under scathing criticism by Minister of Mass Media and Information Anura Priyadarshana Yapa.

According to sources, infuriated by the remarks, Environment Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka he also policy maker of the JHU got up and engaged in a heated exchange of words with his cabinet colleague.

The commotion at the meeting came to an end only after Minister Ranawaka, subsided by boos and taunts by other ministers and parliamentarians, sat down and kept silent until the end of the discussions.
