Peace and tranquillity must return to Sri Lanka. A settlement to the ethnic issue will have to be found soon, said Alok Prasad, the Indian High Commissioner at the dinner hosted by the Sri Lankan – Indian communities in view of the 60th Independence Day of India.Peace and tranquillity must return to Sri Lanka. India is a typical democratic country. During the last sixty years India has achieved many victories in consolidating democracy and in developing its economy. Therefore it travels in the victorious path.
The Indian governments, during this period concentrated on poverty alleviation, building up of livelihood necessities and agricultural development. This victory is due to the special concerns of successful governments and the implementation of several projects related to it, said the High Commissioner adding that both countries were able to maintain the best relationship between them.
