As a Sri Lankan Tamil I am rather concerned with the growing influence of China, Pakistan and Israel in Sri Lanka which basically spells the beginning of the end of India's political influence in Sri Lankan affairs and its strategic influence in the region. There is no doubt that China is investing in Sri Lanka to counter India's dominance within the region followed by Pakistan and Israel. With India's continued reluctance to come out of the mouse-trap of the IPKF/Gandhi era, India is steadily losing its historical role as being a "BIG BROTHER" to Sri Lanka.
"The Rajapakse Regime" is using China, Pakistan and Israel, lock, stock & barrel to fund their "all military no peace talks" war campaign against the LTTE. "The Rajapakse TRIO" (Mahinda, Gotabhaya & Basil) have swindled the nation out of millions of $$$ dollars and have purchased MILLION $ properties in the East & West Coast of the USA.
"The Rajapakse Regime" is no different to the former "Saddam Regime" or the "Mugabe Regime". What India should really do is step its foot down and play a more pro-active role in resolving Sri Lanka's crisis rather than just asking the LTTE and the Sri Lankan government to hold peace talks. Both parties are reluctant to come to the peace table, and therefore pressure should be given by force from INDIA, the EU and the UN. The UN should encourage India to take over the role of Norway which is a country that has indirectly funded the LTTE's coffers fo years pumping millions of $$$ for the purchase of weapons (read the "Norwegians Against Terrorism" Report). Both the LTTE and the "Rajapakse TRIO" have done everything to bring death, destruction and a near collapse of the country's economy which will take years to re-build. The debt deficit of Sri Lanka is set to grow ten-fold if something is not done soon.
I recently learned that the "Rajapakse TRIO" had bribed the editor of the Asian Tribune K.T. Rajasingham based in Sweden to publicise pro-SL government propaganda in favour of the SL government doing a "good job". The Asian Tribune is still on the Rajapakse payroll and the editor continues to publicise articles in the SL governments favour.
The last thing peace loving Sri Lankan's want is more deaths and destruction in the Island. It is because of the LTTE, and parties with some elements of racist chauvinist members such as the JVP and the JHU that is the cause of our country's crisis today. The SLFP and the UNP are as bad as each other although not all the party members support racism or chauvinism. The SLFP (M) sounds promising, although we are yet to see their true colours…
Tamil political parties have either been on the governments bandwagon or the LTTE's bandwagon. The only political party that refused to join the side of the government or the LTTE and remained neutral was EROS under the leadership of Shankar Raji. The EPDP, CWC, EPRLF (P) and PLOTE are stooges of the "Rajapakse Regime". There must be an alternative to this. Political parties must not be coerced or intimidated into joining either bandwagons (LTTE or SL Government) and must be allowed to remain neutral if they choose to do so. EROS was not allowed to do this which is why Douglas Devananda was promoted and his party the EPDP became subservient to the "Rajapakse Regime".
In the East you got another Prabhakaran being groomed (Karuna Amman) of the TMVP who refuses to hand over his weapons and enter into the democratic mainstream and gets his henchman to abduct civilians for ransom and recruit underage children into their armed movement.
The government of Sri Lanka who uses Karuna flatly refuses to do anything about this and lets the TMVP have a "free ride" in the East. The recent clashes between the EPDP and the TMVP was a classic example of the "power struggle" emerging in the East. There have been rumours in the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence that the EPDP and the TMVP do not want EROS to re-open their offices in the East and work for the interests of the people for they are weary of the popularity and respect the organisation has amongst the Eastern people.
A spokesperson of the EROS in Trincomalee refused to comment when contacted on this matter when further questioned however he did state that that this was entirely incorrect and that the government had wholeheartedly backed the return of EROS into the political limelight and had insisted on assisting EROS in re-opening its offices. The spokesperson of EROS also informed me that the EPDP and the TMVP were very supportive of EROS and its return, however he did state that nobody has the right of preventing us from helping our people in their time of need. As an organisation we are not aligned to any political party or movement. We have our own political ideology. We are here for all Sri Lankans to help them survive and prosper, he added.
India must intervene with the backing of International governments and help the people of Sri Lanka. We do not want the North & East divided. "The Rajapakse Regime" is following the colonial British foreign policy of "DIVIDE AND RULE" and is using China, Pakistan and Israel. This must be stopped at all costs. The democratic peace loving Sri Lankan’s should revolt and help save Sri Lanka.

Nice blog you have here. A lot of people are concerned about China's sudden rise to prominence.
