A male’s body without hands and legs washed ashore at Delft on Sunday at 9.30 p.m. Inquiry was held by the Kayts magistrate A.K. Alexrajah. The Delft police was asked to send the body to the Jaffna hospital for an autopsy and if the identification was not established to bury the body in the Kayts Ggeneral Cemetery.
Meanwhile a trishaw driver was shot dead in Trincomalee third milepost Nithiyapuri on last Monday evening at 5.30 p.m.
The victim was Gerald Wedore, 29 years, and a father of three. The gunmen came to his house in a bicycle made this attack while he was setting up to go out in his trishaw. The police took the body to the Trincomalee hospital. The body was then handed over to his wife after autopsy. Uppuvely police is holding inquiry in this regard.
Meanwhile in a separated incident, an employee of the Valaichenai Paper Mill died near the Oddamawadi Bridge last Monday (20August) around 7.00 p.m. The victim was identified as Senathirajah Thiyagachandran, 55 years. His colleagues of the mill found him near the bridge lying with injuries when they were returning home after work. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. His body is being kept in the hospital and police are conducting inquires in this regards.
It was said that the deceased is the brother of Parliamentarian Jeyanandamoorthy. The cause of death could be revealed only after the autopsy is completed, sources said.
