Peaceful atmosphere to be created gradually: Devananda

By: Nelson S. Edirisinghe

Abnormal conditions prevail in Jaffna today. This sluggish situation cannot be changed altogether at once but gradually with great efforts, said the Minister of Social Services and Social Welfare Douglas Devananda in Jaffna while addressing the people who were present in his office.

The Minister pointed out how the struggle for the political rights were taken forward in the past, and due to mistakes of certain sections, the people are now left without even the basic rights. He welcomed the people for their support and trust they place on him, which gives reassurance and blessings.

The Minister expressed happiness that he can see more and more people visiting him with various problems. This clearly shows the confidence of the people being placed on him. This paves the way to find easy solutions to problems faced by them. It gives him pleasure to see the affected people directly approaching him to tell their tales of woes. The Minister assured that all the complaints submitted to him have been inquired into and suitable remedial actions are being contemplated.
