LTTE suspected held in Oslo

Three LTTE suspects to be charged in connection with violent clashes between two Tamil groups in Oslo. LTTE clashes recently resulted in one death and injured several others in Oslo. The most recent being the LTTE Oslo shooting spree where there was a dispute between two rival factions in the Tamil diaspora.

According to web based media reports Norwegian Police have already arrested two suspects related to the incident. One was arrested at the “Gronland” area in Oslo whereas the other was arrested in the North part of Oslo. In addition to the arrested, one of the hospitalized persons will be charged in connection with the murder.

The Norwegian Police estimates that twenty persons participated in the clashes. So far only three have been charged for the crime. A total of three suspects are currently in the police custody. There is no information from the Police about the role played by the three arrested persons in the shooting spree. Several more suspects are wanted by the police. This shooting spree is yet another instance of LTTE violence and intimidation in Norway.

Many Tamils, especially the anti LTTE groups have constantly complained to the Norwegian authorities that the LTTE intimidate the Tamils in Norway that not only those living in Norway but even their relatives in Sri Lanka, particularly the Vanni. However the Norwegian police turned a blind eye to these complaints until the murder and bloodshed earlier this month, they said.

According to ‘Aftenposten’, a Norwegian daily, the list of criminal activities of the LTTE in Norway ranges from drug trafficking to credit card frauds.
