The Hon. Minister, during the course of discussion, informed the UN representative that he managed to bring the affairs of the peninsula to a satisfactory level in his previous visit. However, since he left, many changes had taken place subjecting the people to a myriad of difficulties, despite this negative development, he added that he would be able to bring about tangible improvements to the present situation this time round, during his stay in Jaffna. He also went on to say that he was resorting to all possible measures to bring happiness and prosperity to the lives of Jaffna people.

Mr. Holmes was shown in many improperly planned programmes and short-comings in Jaffna peninsula by the Hon. Minister. Mr. Holmes promised his unstinting support to the Minister in his endeavour to rid of the present pressing problems in Jaffna.
