Over 20 of the more than 200 AIDS patients from foreign countries who came down to share their experiences at the conference have gone missing, reliable sources told the 'Lanka Guardian' on today [23 August] early morning.
The 8th International Conference on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) was began at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Convention Hall (BMICH) on the 19th of August.
It is reported that a Nigerian AIDS patient had admitted himself at the Negombo Base Hospital for treatment. However, hospital sources say that he too, has gone missing after a certain dispute.
“Unfortunately we can confirm that the whereabouts of over 20 of these foreign AIDS patients are unknown’, one of diplomatic source told the ‘Lanka Guardian.’
The others have been admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Angoda,
because the Negombo Base Hospital has refused to admit them.
