In a statement released by their Media & Communications Wing their official spokesperson Nesan Shankar Raji, stated that the EROS condemns such an attack on innocent civilians and urged the local police and military to take appropriate measures to verify the identities of the gunmen or the armed group responsible for the killings and take action.
"We send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims of these indiscriminate and vicious killings". The government of Sri Lanka needs to take more measures to ensure that additional patrolling and security arrangements are made to protect civilians from being targeted. These killings cannot and should not be allowed to continue like this in a government controlled area. On the spot searches need to be conducted by the police on a more regular basis and more check points added in all areas of Jaffna, he added.
