Court of appeal for Jaffna

The court of appeal was ceremonially opened in Jaffna on Monday in the premises of the Jaffna High Court, located on the Jaffna Old Park Road by the Jaffna High Court Judge S. Thiyagendran and Vavuniya High Court Judge S. Visvanathan.

The Jaffna public faced so many problems and difficulties to take up the Jaffna district civil cases to the Colombo court of appeal. They had to spend a lot on traveling for every date. This court of appeal was launched as a total solution to all this, said the District Judges in their speech after opening the courts.

The civil courts, introduced by the Chief Justice are being opened in all districts. The Jaffna court was also officially opened in that line. Jaffna district judge R.J. Vignarajah, Chavakachchery magistrate A. Premsangar, Kayts magistrate, Alexrajah and attorneys at law participated in this function.

Foods for Jaffna

Meanwhile, 2400 metric tons of fertilizers are being sent to Jaffna by Induruwali ship and 2800 metric tons flour by Ja Ela ship.

The Jaffna farmers made a request to send them fertilizers before September and all kind of fertilizers were sent to Jaffna without ship transport charges. Last Friday flour also was sent to Jaffna but still there is a shortage for flour. Hence 2800 metric tons of flour is to be dispatched on 24th.

Nutritional foods under the world food programme are also loaded to the Induruweli ship along with rice and flour. This ship is also bringing Thriposa, for the mothers in Jaffna.
