The Secretary of the Kalpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha [Regional Council] has been caught red handed while accepting a bribe.“The officer had solicited Rs. 20,000 to release Rs. 50,000 rupees for the construction of a pre-school that is to be done by the Regional Council. He was nabbed in the act of accepting the money from the contractor at the PS office,” Director (Investigations) of the Bribery Commission, SSP Neville Guruge said.
A peon of the Regional Council has also been taken in, after he had tried to conceal the act of bribery, by putting the money into a drawer.
